The Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223) is the flagship sedan of the marque and the reference vehicle for first-class chauffeured travel worldwide. In Geneva, it is the sedan a permanent mission books for a visiting minister, the bride’s family books for a Beau-Rivage wedding, and a collector books for the four days of Watches & Wonders or for an Art Basel preview week. SLS operates a 2024 S-Class fleet — long wheelbase, executive rear configuration, Burmester high-end audio, in-cabin fragrance and ambient lighting — for clients whose itinerary genuinely benefits from a step up from the E-Class, and where a V-Class would feel out of register.

Use cases — when the S-Class is the right call
Diplomatic and government travel. Visiting heads of mission, ministers and senior agency officials arriving for sessions at the Palais des Nations, the Geneva Council or the WHO need a sedan that matches the protocol of the appointment. The S-Class is the standard at this register — a step short of the Maybach S-Class reserved for heads of state and ultra-VIP itineraries. SLS chauffeurs assigned to diplomatic clients hold dedicated security and discretion training and brief through the mission’s protocol officer.
Weddings — bride and immediate family. The Geneva and Vaud wedding circuit (Beau-Rivage, La Réserve, Château de Coppet, Hôtel d’Angleterre, the Grand-Saconnex civil registry) uses the S-Class as the bride’s car: white ribbon optional, dark exterior, calm cabin, climate-tuned for a long dress and a hair-and-makeup window. The wedding planner blocks the chauffeur for the full day, including the ceremony-to-reception leg and a late return to the hotel.
Watches & Wonders (April) and Art Basel preview (June). Collectors, gallery principals and senior watch-industry executives in town for the Palexpo trade fair or for Basel’s preview week require a sedan that can sit at a VIP entrance discreetly for hours. The S-Class is configured with a Burmester audio cabin, panoramic blinds, and rear executive recline for the long midday gaps between appointments.
Anniversary, milestone and private dinners. Couples celebrating a fortieth at La Réserve, Domaine de Châteauvieux or Le Floris hire an S-Class as part of the evening — collected from the hotel, kept on standby, returned at the agreed hour. The chauffeur waits off-site by default and is recalled by message.
Routes & destinations
Geneva ↔ Verbier (CHF 895). Two hours via the A9. Used by families taking residence at the W Verbier or chalet rentals on the Médran side for non-ski stays (summer Verbier Festival, Polo Masters, autumn truffle weeks).
Geneva ↔ Zermatt (CHF 1305). Three hours to Täsch. The S-Class drops at the train terminus or, for guests at Mont Cervin Palace or Riffelalp Resort, coordinates the final electric shuttle.
Geneva ↔ Crans-Montana (CHF 1110). 2h15 via Sierre. The Caprices Festival principals’ contingent and Omega golf weeks are typical drivers.
Geneva ↔ Lausanne (CHF 425). For Beau-Rivage Palace, Lausanne Palace, Royal Savoy weddings, and for IOC functions at Vidy.
Geneva city circuit. Palais des Nations, Palexpo, Geneva private banks, hotel-to-restaurant evening loops — the S-Class is comfortable in stop-and-go traffic and gives a long enough rear cabin that a passenger in a long dress or a formal suit can settle in unhurried.

S-Class vs E-Class — when the upgrade is genuinely justified
A practical question for clients new to SLS: when is the S-Class the right call, and when is the E-Class enough? The S-Class is justified when the protocol level, the occasion or the rear-cabin requirement (an hour-long working session in the back, a long-dress wedding entry, a senior-diplomatic visit) actually makes use of what the vehicle offers. It is not justified — and we will say so to a corporate client trying to standardise the wrong way — when the trip is a fifteen-minute hotel-to-restaurant hop or a routine airport pickup for a single executive. In those cases the E-Class is the right answer, and the budget is better spent on adding hours of stand-by than on upgrading the chassis. The S-Class is also the natural step up from the E-Class for clients who book repeatedly and want the Burmester cabin, the rear massage and the meet-and-greet treatment included as a baseline rather than per request.
Discretion and protocol
The S-Class chauffeur roster at SLS has a sub-roster cleared for diplomatic and high-discretion work — additional training in protocol etiquette, route alternatives in case of incident, contingencies for inside-terminal meet at GVA, signed confidentiality. On wedding work the same chauffeur is briefed by the wedding planner directly, with the ribbon, the flowers on the rear shelf, and the agreed entry timing handled before the bride steps in.
