Geneva to Courchevel 1850 by private Mercedes from CHF 900 all-in, door-to-door in about 2h30 via the A40 motorway, the Tarentaise valley, and the final climb from Moûtiers. Courchevel is the most international of all French resorts — the village where Russian wealth, Middle East principals, and Western family offices winter side by side — and the 175 km from GVA cover one of the most demanding alpine drives in the region. Fixed price, fixed pickup, real-time flight tracking. No surge, no surprise.

Why pre-book a chauffeur

Courchevel sits 1,850 metres above the Bozel valley, and the final twenty-three kilometres from Moûtiers climb 1,150 m on the D915 — a road the gendarmerie enforces strictly under Loi Montagne II between 1 November and 31 March, with four winter tyres plus chains required on board. Renting a car at GVA is impractical: most rental fleets do not ship chains, the altiport entry restrictions are strict on Saturdays, and parking at 1850 is at premium rates inside chalet courtyards. Our Mercedes E-Class, V-Class, S-Class and Sprinter fleet runs full winter equipment from October to May, and our chauffeurs are familiar with the four village levels — 1300 Le Praz, 1550, 1650 Moriond, and 1850 — each with distinct access routes and chalet conventions.

The route in detail

We leave Geneva via the Pont du Mont-Blanc, cross at Bardonnex, and join the A40 (Autoroute Blanche) southeast. The first hour covers Annemasse to Le Fayet via Cluses. At Sallanches we leave the A40 for the A430 toward Albertville. From Albertville the road becomes the N90 — the Olympic road built for the 1992 Games — climbing along the Isère through Aigueblanche and Moûtiers (45 minutes from Albertville). At Moûtiers the climb begins: the D915 corkscrews up past Saint-Bon, Le Praz (1300), then forks for Moriond (1650) or the main road continues to 1850. This last 23 km usually takes 35 minutes in good weather, longer in snowfall. Total: 175 kilometres and roughly 2h30 from Geneva Airport in clear conditions, 3h or more on a Saturday in February during the French school holidays.

Hotels and chalets we know in Courchevel

Courchevel 1850 hosts the highest concentration of palace-rated hotels in the Alps. Cheval Blanc Courchevel (LVMH) on Le Jardin Alpin has a private mountainside lift and a strict back-entrance access for vehicles — we use the Saulire road, never the main drop. L’Apogée Courchevel (Oetker Collection) on Jardin Alpin is reached via the same valet apron. Les Airelles (Maisons Pariente) on Le Jardin Alpin is the historic flagship; our chauffeurs use the discreet lower entry for arrivals after 18:00. Aman Le Mélézin on Rue de Bellecôte, the smallest of the palaces and ski-in/ski-out, has limited access during peak afternoon ski-traffic — we arrive before 11:00 or after 17:00. Le K2 Palace on Rue des Clarines and Le Strato on Route de Bellecôte complete the 1850 lineup. We also serve Le K2 Altitude at 1650 Moriond, the Manali Lodge at Le Praz, and the privately-rented chalet portfolios managed by Cimalpes and Bramble Ski.

What to do in Courchevel

Skiing: the Three Valleys domain, 600 km of pistes linked, with the Saulire summit at 2,738 m connecting to Méribel and Val Thorens. Lift passes start at €72/day. Courchevel’s piste network is the gentlest of the Three Valleys, ideal for families and intermediate skiers, with the famous Grand Couloir off the Saulire for experts. Altiport: the Courchevel altiport at 2,008 m takes light jets, turboprops and helicopters with a sloped 537-m runway — the FBO is operated by Aeroports de Savoie. Dining: two three-star Michelin restaurants — Le 1947 by Yannick Alléno at Cheval Blanc, and Pierre Gagnaire’s Le Sarkara dessert restaurant at Les Airelles. Shopping: Rue du Rocher and the Croisette gallery host Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Chanel and the major Russian-favoured jewellers. Spa: the Dior spa at Cheval Blanc, the Le Mélézin Aman spa, and the La Mer cabin at Les Airelles. Ice diving at Lac de Tignes (excursion). Helicopter transfers from the altiport to Megève, Val d’Isère and Geneva via SAF.

Altiport, helicopter and FBO coordination

Many of our Courchevel guests arrive at GVA on commercial business class or on a private jet at Geneva’s TAG Aviation or ExecuJet FBOs. From the GVA FBOs we deliver directly to the chalet door in the same timing. For guests transferring onward to the Courchevel altiport, we coordinate with SAF helicopter ground crews — typical helicopter time GVA-side heliport to Courchevel altiport is 45 minutes, road equivalent 2h30, so the helicopter saves an hour at a typical cost of CHF 8,000 for the V-Class equivalent passenger load.

Equipment and seasons

Between 1 November and 31 March all our vehicles serving Courchevel carry four winter tyres plus snow chains on board, in compliance with Loi Montagne II. Outside the December–April high season, the run to Courchevel is a scenic mountain drive; the altiport remains active for summer mountaineering and weddings, and the village is quietly open with limited hotels (Le K2 closes part of summer; Cheval Blanc operates a shortened summer season).
